Darling and Associates Painting went beyond a great job. From my first contact with their office to the team that showed up to paint my Victorian home they were professional, timely, courteous, respectful and a joy to have around. The painting crew were amazing craftsmen. Fast but incredibly precise. At the end of the day, you could not even tell that they had been there (except for the progress on the house!) so thorough was their clean-up.

I am grateful to Darling and Associates Painting for picking up the dropped ball that started last September when I hired another local paint company who told me that they were lead certified, when in fact they were not. I discovered this when the City of Santa Rosa shut them down. My house was half stripped, and I learned that I would need lead abatement done to my property before any painting could resume.

Make sure that when you hire painters that you see their lead certification and that it is current! And their license! And see for yourself, examples of their work.

The Darling and Associates Painting crew that came to continue my house prep this May were all lead certified, not just the foreman for the job. And the results are beyond anything I could have imagined. The crew applied the first coat of colored paint that this house has worn in one-hundred and fourteen years! It is as if I have a brand-new home and it is beautiful!

Unfortunately we had to fire another painter who started out strong and faded badly in the stretch. This is often what happens when you go with the lowest bidder. We always knew that Darling was the premier painter in town, but we just assumed they were way out of our price range. If we had hired Tom Darling from the beginning, we would have seen that not only was his estimate VERY reasonable, but we would have saved over $10K by hiring Darling from the beginning!  

The day after we went into contract with Darling, 2 vans and about 6 painters descended on my house like the 82nd Airborne. They attacked the prep work. Resanding and redoing almost all of the prep work from my previous painter, because it wasn't good enough for Tom Darling and his crew. They filled every hole, every crack, every unsightly gap between my baseboards and my sheet rock. The thing that surprised me most, was that I had huge areas where sheet rock had been removed and reinstalled, but had not yet been taped, mudded and textured. Much to my surprise, Darling painters were able to patch and match the texture thus saving me from having to bring the sheet rockers back.

I have over 20, 8 foot tall, 33-36 inch wide doors that weigh 125 pounds each. They expertly wrestled and set up the doors in such a way that they could be painted efficiently and perfectly.

They removed every light fixture and electrical outlet, and professionally taped around everything that they could not remove. They worked fast and left our house neat and tidy every day.

Darling paints with a lot of top quality Benjamin Moore as well as Kelly Moore. I was very concerned that I was going to throw them for a loop by requesting Sherwin-Williams paints because there are a few colors that I was very particular about getting.

A very interesting thing happened. I called around to every Sherwin-Williams store north of the Golden Gate bridge to try to find a particular urethane based paint from Sherwin-Williams for our doors and trim. I was told that there was a 2 to 3 week back order on this particular paint. Tom Darling was able to get the paint in ONE DAY! Why? Because every paint company will bend over backwards to try to earn Tom Darling's business.

And then I was concerned that the characteristics of the paints I selected were quite a bit different from the Benjamin Moore and Kelly Moore paints that they typically use. It was no problem at all. No brush or spray marks. The urethane semi-gloss looks like glass.
This week they finish the rest of the walls and will get started on the exterior once our stucco guys patch a few areas. Could not be happier with Darling and Associates. Should have hired them from the beginning, saved myself a ton of money, and had a superior product to begin with.

 I cannot even begin to express our deep gratitude for the whole experience we received from Darling & Associates Painting!  We were blown away with the time, dedication, and efforts put into our project!  From meeting Tom for the initial quote, we felt comfortable and sure that he and his company would get the job done.  Tom was kind, personable, made us feel at ease, and quickly provided us with a quote for our project.  We got many quotes and none even came close to the amount of work that the paint crew did on our project.  After we received the quote, Tom's office staff were so helpful in keeping us up to date and communicated with us through email.
They were very quick to answer any questions that we sent over, and so kindly helped us navigate through the tricky process of picking out a paint color.  We worked together closely and are so appreciative of the guidance we received!  We also were in a rainy season and had to wait out the rain for the best day(s) to paint.  We were kept in the loop throughout the waiting process to powerwashing, paint, and completion!  Ray, our foreman, and the whole paint crew, went way above and beyond our expectations!  The cleaning, caulking, prep and execution of this project was more than we could have wanted.  Our home is beautiful and we also received such kind words from our neighbors of the crew having fun and working well together! That was a plus!  We saw some screws that we forgot to take out after the paint project was done, also, and the final day they were on our job, they touched up the areas after my husband removed the screws.  Doing more than we asked was seen in many ways and we just cannot say enough great things about this company!!
